Co-Chair / Feminisms {Re}framed – Art Show, St. John’s, Canada (2015 – 2018)
Running from 2015-2018, Feminisms {Re}Framed is a multidisciplinary, collaborative, volunteer-run art show.
We take an inclusive approach: feminist art is art of any medium exploring, navigating, or challenging feminist themes and issues, and/ or art that is feminist through the means of its creation. We aim to showcase art by feminists who might not otherwise have access to display their work in gallery spaces.
This show is open to all artists who consider themselves to be creating art from a feminist perspective. All women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people were encouraged to submit pieces; we also welcomed men whose work takes on feminist themes or issues. Anyone who currently lives in Newfoundland or once called Newfoundland home could submit their work. We aimed to encourage the participation of hobby, amateur, or non-professional artists.
